Parades, Games and Contests

Games and contests. 2019 Winners Below
Decorative scarecrows and male facial hair are the centerpiece of two favorite games dating to the first festival in 1974. Traditional and non traditional scarecrows are judged at 11am on Saturday, youth category included. At 2:50pm on Saturday, more than thirty men display their beards and mustaches for discriminating female judges who award ribbons for various attributes including size, shape, color, mustache, stubble and artistic quality. To enter just take your whiskers to the bandstand.
New in 1999 was the hugely popular hog calling at 2:15pm Sunday. You’ll be amazed at hog calling as performance art. Children and adult categories. Come to the bandstand early to beat the crowds for this one. For the egg toss on Sunday at 1:15 pm, you bring a partner, we provide the eggs – and paper towels to wipe off raw egg splatter.
Serious bakers enter tasty treats in nearly a dozen apple-related categories. Once the judging is complete, entries are for sale. Winners announced at 1:45 pm and the stampede to buy the best apple butter begins.
Apple bake and apple butter contest entries due by Saturday 9am.
