  • Cacapon State Park.  18-hole/72-par championship golf course. Robert Trent Jones Sr.-designed, meticulously maintained. Open year’ round.  Watch for deer.

HIKING

  • Mountain trails on Cacapon Mountain are accessible from Cacapon State Park.
  • The C&O Canal is the gold standard for easy hiking, biking rollerblading. Hikers love the Paw Paw Tunnel.
  • The challenging Tuscarora Trail connects to the Appalachian Trail.
  • Eidolon Nature Preserve hiking trails.

BIKING

  • The ridges and valleys of Morgan County are ideal terrain for scenic road biking and mountain biking. Cacapon State Park Foundation
  • Easy riding on the C&O Canal towpath along the Potomac River.
  • The nearly mile-long Paw Paw Tunnel, largest man-made structure on the Canal is along the towpath.
  • Bikes rentals are available at C&O Bicycle.

HUNTING & FISHING

  • Fish, canoe and boat from public access points on the Potomac and Cacapon rivers, area streams and lakes at Cacapon State Park and Sleepy Creek WMA Lake. MAP
  • The Ridge Fish Hatchery breeds famous West Virginia trout used to stock local lakes.
  • Sleepy Creek Lake has bass, sunfish, pike and crappie.
  • Hunting and fishing licenses are required of both residents and nonresidents 15 to 65 years of age. NEVER hunt on private land without permission
  • Shotgun sports are available Cacapon State Park:  trap shooting/shotgun shooting at clay targets.

  • Good Luck Stables: Horse boarding, training and lessons. Group rates and family discounts. Pony parties, photo sessions, and summer camp. All riding by appointment only. Lessons and trail ride for ages 4 to 74.
