Make Berkeley Springs the center of your outdoor adventure fun.  The surrounding countryside is an historic playground with wooded mountains and ridges, two rivers and several lakes.  Today those natural wonders welcome 21st century action.

GOLF

• Cacapon State Park.  18-hole/72-par championship golf course. Robert Trent Jones Sr.-designed, meticulously maintained. Open year’ round.  Watch for deer.

HIKING

• Mountain trails on Cacapon Mountain are accessible from Cacapon State Park.
• The C&O Canal is the gold standard for easy hiking, biking rollerblading. Hikers love the Paw Paw Tunnel.
• The challenging Tuscarora Trail connects to the Appalachian Trail.
• Eidolon Nature Preserve hiking trails.

BIKING

• The ridges and valleys of Morgan County are ideal terrain for scenic road biking and mountain biking. Cacapon State Park Foundation
• Easy riding on the C&O Canal towpath along the Potomac River.
• The nearly mile-long Paw Paw Tunnel, largest man-made structure on the Canal is along the towpath.
• Bikes rentals are available at C&O Bicycle.

HUNTING & FISHING

• Quail Hollow Hunts – 300 acre mountainside hunting preserve; guided pheasant, quail and chukar hunts with dogs.
• Sleepy Creek Wildlife Management Area and Widmyer WMA – More than 20,000 acres for hunting everything from white-tailed deer to roaming flocks of wild turkey. Spring and fall seasons. Primitive camping and lake at Sleepy Creek WMA.

• Fish, canoe and boat from public access points on the Potomac and Cacapon rivers, area streams and lakes at Cacapon State Park and Sleepy Creek WMA Lake. MAP
• The Ridge Fish Hatchery breeds famous West Virginia trout used to stock local lakes.
• Sleepy Creek Lake has bass, sunfish, pike and crappie.
• Hunting and fishing licenses are required of both residents and nonresidents 15 to 65 years of age. NEVER hunt on private land without permission

• Shotgun sports are available Cacapon State Park:  trap shooting/shotgun shooting at clay targets.

WATER SPORTS…

• …are not limited to soaking in the warm mineral springs.
• Berkeley Springs State Park public outdoor pool.  Open daily Memorial Day – Labor Day.
• Cacapon State Park lake: sand beach, swimming, paddle boats.
• Crafts Adventure: Flow trips on the Cacapon or Potomac River. Rentals of kayaks, canoes, stand-up paddleboards, paddle boats.
• Potomac River: power boats allowed.
• Sleepy Creek WMA Lake: electric motors only. in the wildlife management area.  are preferred sports on the

• Cacapon State Park and Biser Street Park in town: public tennis, basketball, volleyball courts
• Jensuya Belly Dance: Classes, workshops and parties.
• Paw Paw Town Park: softball field and playground.
• Morgan County Recreation Area: five ball fields for league play. Spectators welcome.
• Bowling alley: open daily, year ’round

HORSEBACK RIDING

• Cacapon State Park: mountain trail rides.
• Good Luck Stables: Horse boarding, training and lessons. Group rates and family discounts. Pony parties, photo sessions, and summer camp. All riding by appointment only. Lessons and trail ride for ages 4 to 74.

WINTER SPORTS

• Cacapon State Park: cross country skiing on mountain trails. Bring your own equipment.

ECOTOURISM
